Statement on Violence in Charlottesville, VA.

Pullman, WA: The National Board and membership of Alpha Nu Multicultural Sorority, Inc. condemn the vile, violent and bigoted acts that took place this weekend at the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Such hatred and racism have no place in our universities or within our communities at large. Alpha Nu, since its inception, has been dedicated to our pillar of unity. We have, and will continue to stand up against all forms of intolerable divisiveness, segregation and racism, both at home and at our communities at large.

We would like to acknowledge all those who were harmed this weekend protesting such hatred in Charlottesville. We mourn the death of Heather Heyer, who lost her life due to the intentional attack on counter protestors. Our thoughts and prayers are with her surviving friends and family.

About Alpha Nu Multicultural Sorority, Inc.: Alpha Nu was founded on February 27th, 2008 by seven culturally diverse women on the main campus of Washington State University in Pullman, WA.
